European road will connect Plovdiv and Smolyan. The road between the two regional cities will be entirely renewed next year.

A third roadway is expected to be built, where such extension is possible. This way the traffic jam between Chepelare, Pamporovo and Smolyan, caused by the building invasion in the area and the growing tourist flow, will be avoided. However, a new modern highway will be planned in two years at earliest.

The state will finance also the rehabilitation of the road from Smolyan to the villages of Smilyan, Mogilitsa and Arda, which are developing rural, eco and cave tourism.
